cadillac, barrels, chairs, pedi-pole, foot corrector, arm weights and Magic
Circles, we are uniquely able to offer the complete PiIates System of exercise.
We use Gratz-manufactured apparatus, the original manufacturer of Joseph
Pilates' equipment. The Pilates Center also offers "Continued Learning" seminars for certified Pilates instructors and official Romana's Pilates Continuing Education programs yearly. Our Staff Our staff of teachers is trained to the same rigorous standards as Janice, and all are certified by Romana Kryzanowska herself. More... Janice Dulak "This is good old fashioned PIlates, the way it ought to be taught!"—Romana Kryzanowska says of Janice Dulak during Janice's seminar at the 2007 International Romana's Pilates Convention. Janice Dulak has trained in Pilates with Romana Kryzanowska since 1989 when a knee injury threatened her performing career as a dancer. With the improved body conditioning gained by Pilates, Janice was able to continue dancing and teaching internationally. Janice served as chair of the Stephens College Dance Dept. for 10 years. She was certified as a Pilates instructor in 1993 and she opened her first studio in Columbia, MO. At the request of Romana in 1999, Janice undertook further training and received her Level 2 instructor certification in 2000. This certification, held only by a handful of instructors, qualifies Janice to train Pilates instructors at seminars throughout the United States. Janice, an avid dressage rider, has recently published
"Pilates for the Dressage Rider." Although focused on dressage,
this book is designed to help all riders understand the importance of
a strong
core for better riding.

The Pilates System
Focusing on the center of the body—the “Powerhouse”—Pilates
works to build strength and flexibility with control. Contrary to the practice
of repetitive exercise, Pilates prefers fewer, more precise motions which
is a more efficient way of exercising. Choosing from over 500 exercises,
the Pilates instructor creates an optimum workout for maximum results for
each client. Fitness for Equestrians Being physically fit for equestrian activiities is very
important. In "Pilates for the Dressage Rider" Janice takes
the Pilates Method and relates it
directly
to the
skills
necessary
for
dressage
riding. The exercises learned in the practice of Pilates can help riders
understand how to
use their
bodies
for more effective riding. The integration of Pilates and dressage riding
creates a new perspective on the concept of fitness for the rider. |
